Rocking With Minerals

My students need the streak plates along with the rock and materials kit to identify minerals found in common household items such as toothpaste and mouthwash.

My Students

Sixth grade students will have the opportunity to use hands-on lab materials to discover and investigate the world of minerals around them.

Our middle school is a high-poverty school located in a rural area.

They are wonderful and inquisitive students who welcome new opportunities to discover science in their everyday lives. Our middle school has over 900 students with a large diversity of students.

My Project

Students will use the streak plates and materials from the kit to identify minerals found in common household items such as toothpaste and mouthwash. This demonstrates the importance of minerals in our daily lives, and provides a springboard to teach conservation of mineral resources.

With ongoing budget crunches, your donation will open the world of minerals to our students that otherwise would not happen.

You will provide opportunities that will engage and motivate our students to discover the importance of science around them.
