This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love reading and spend a great amount of time each day engaging in this task! However, they do not always select books that are on their proper reading level. With additional resources, my students could select books that are designed to move their reading levels higher and higher!

I am a First Grade teacher in a suburban Title One school.

My classroom consists of students who are limited in English proficiency, students who have special needs, and students who thrive from being challenged academically. My students reading levels vary as much as their sweet personalities! The reading levels in my classroom range from Level A to Level J!

My Project

Independent reading (Read to Self) and buddy reading (Read to Someone) are both important components of our literacy center time each day. It is very important for the students to have access to books that are on their independent reading level. One of the best ways for my students to become better readers is by practicing with leveled books each day. My students would use this leveled library each day to select books that he/she can read independently. This time spent reading, both independently and with other classmates, will greatly enhance the students love for reading and help each child to feel successful. My students love to be called "Rock Stars" and with your help, they can each become a Rock Star Reader!

Additional funding will help me to supply my students with the learning tools that will help them reach their academic goals!
