Dresses, Tuxedos, Flowers, First-dates, Nerves, Dancing...Prom Night! It's a rite of passage for teenagers that has so often been marred by tragedy. Our committee is dedicated to continue with our annual Post-Prom that gives students an exciting, safe, memorable place to go after the prom.
We have great students!
They are hard-working, dedicated young people about whom our community cares deeply. They strive for excellence and have proven themselves over and over in their academic, athletic, and artistic achievements. We live in a town (like so many towns) in which it is difficult for teens to find something interesting to do, so often they are tempted to party at homes and other locations that facilitate drinking and other dangerous behaviors. Our committee does not want our students to have a limited choice on what they can do after their prom. Your donation could really benefit our event.
My Project
The money raised from generous contributors, such as yourself, will go to providing these door prizes awarded at the end of the night for our students. We give out super exciting door prizes, like this laptop and HDTV, to those students who stay the entire night. This is a great way to ensure that the kids stay safe all night long. By covering the costs of the prizes, we can then hire a fantastic DJ (a past graduate of our school) who provides a photo booth for the kids to capture fun moments with friends, and he provides great dance music, contests, activities, lighting and props that the kids LOVE. We rent blow up games like surfing, bungee pulls, rock walls, etc..., and we rent sumo wrestling suits and a mechanical bull for the students to enjoy. Students are famished after a night of dancing at the prom, so we provide them with all of their favorite goodies, and although our community is great at donating, we still need extra money to make up the difference.
Any time adults have an opportunity to embrace their community's children and to provide them with events that foster friendship, safety, and good clean fun, it is incumbent on us to do it.
Your donation can help us remind young adults that there is fun to be had that does not require consuming drugs or alcohol. Playing, dancing, singing, talking with friends...they can enjoy life without indulging in life-threatening, reputation-destroying behaviors. That's what your money will contribute to.
