Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are often academically 2 grade levels below their typically developing peers. I am here to support their learning at their individual pace. We work in small group settings that seek to empower them at their level.

My school is located in a heavily populated, diverse urban district.

We are a charter school and accept all children based strictly on a lottery system so no one is excluded based on gender, race, religion, academic achievement or having special requirement. We are currently a K-4 school that is planning on expanding to 8th grade.

My Project

I am requesting a lot of hands-on games to help my students who need a variety of ways to learn. I am asking for textured letters to support my tactile learners as well as puzzles, games and manipulatives such as counting bears to ensure that my students are having fun while learning. My kids also need a math kit, and sight word cards and tiles to support their learning.

My project is important because we do not have a lot of funding to support our diverse learners who sometimes require different materials to learn the same concepts.

Additionally, it is extremely important to have a variety of materials in the Resource Room to excite the children with new and fun games.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
