Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students need computers! State and national standards require students to use the Internet to ask question and conduct research and computers to synthesize information and draft reports. With your help, students will become independent scholars who have the tools they need to succeed!

Our classroom is made up of twenty-four third grade girls who eagerly approach new tasks and build explanations.

They love to learn; they ask questions, read to learn, and share their thoughts with their peers and teachers. While the students receive rigorous instruction, they lack the technology to meet some of the standards imperative to succeed in a technological world. All students must share the teacher's laptop when they need to do research, compose text documents, or even learn to type! It is imperative that these students learn more about the world through the computer before they reach middle school in two years. We need your help!

My Project

With your help, students will be opened up to new worlds. With the computer, students will be able to update our class blog, sharing information for the rest of the world. Students will post book reviews to other blogs, applying important reading and writing skills learned in class. Students will be able to answer the questions that are important to them and cite sources from the web when sharing this knowledge. Students will learn to type - an invaluable skill! Most importantly, computers allow students to feel even more empowered. With the aid of technology, students can open the doors to history, science, political science, and literature. These students are eager to learn and eager to share.

The more comfortable students feel with technology, the more they can become independent thinkers seeking answers to help them build explanations.

Not only is learning how to research and use technology an educational standard, it helps build lifelong learners. Help our students succeed!
