My Students

My current third grade students look up to my fourth graders. My third graders want to be just like their older classmates, and do what they do. My fourth graders got to play recorders this year due to the generosity of Donorschoose.org, but what about my fourth graders next year?

My students are kind, gentle, and loving kids whom come from terrible home lives.

Many of them do not get the resources needed for school unless it is provided for them. There is not a day that passes that I do not get asked by a third grader if they are going to get to play recorders next year.

My Project

My students need 150 Soprano Recorders with Baroque Fingering. With these recorders, my students will be able to experience playing an instrument. They will learn basic notation, as well as simple folk tunes on the recorder. My students will also learn skills needed for the success of continuing music education at the middle school level.

No child should complete their elementary school years without getting to play a recorder in music class.

I do not want my students to miss out on an experience because their families cannot afford to buy a recorder. My students deserve the same music education as students who are in music programs that have a budget to support recorders.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
