In my classroom, we are learning to overcome our past and push ourselves in the present, so we can achieve our future goals. Please help us along our path!
In fact, we have 20+ countries represented in our school population, which is incredible... and wonderful!
As a teacher, I see these challenges as opportunities to make a huge impact on the lives of my students. With 95% of our children receiving free or reduced lunch, motivating my students is sometimes an uphill battle, and I find myself constantly reaching up my sleeve for a new "trick" to engage them. Nevertheless, we work tirelessly every day to keep our classroom community kind, respectful, and encouraging. I love my students and want the very best for them!
My Project
My students-- as well as all students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade-- will use these during recess. They will be able to engage their bodies physically while also interacting in a positive way with their peers. They will learn intangible things that are often overlooked for "big kids": teamwork, kindness, sharing, and communication. They will experiment with creativity and be able to take risks without fear of failure. They will have FUN and enjoy recess as it's meant to be enjoyed with some classic games and choices that they may not have ever experienced before!
These recess materials will be a major upgrade to our students' recess experience.
Our playground is without adequate supplies and equipment, and our students often get into trouble while trying to find something to do. Instead of them putting their energy into gossip and drama, that often creates classroom problems, they will be able to put their energy into positive, self-esteem building games that will help their sense of self skyrocket. Please help us fuel our energies in a productive way!
