Quite obviously, we live in a technological world today. The problem, however, lies with school systems not always being able to fund new equipment. I have tried hard to provide technology rich lessons with my students. My reading intervention students could really use a new laptop for centers.
Our Pre K-5th grade school is one of the feeder schools in our home town.
Our town is a close knit community and we have wonderful students here! Our school has about 550 students. I teach Reading Intervention to students in grades K-2nd. With the new Common Core Curriculum implemented, we are all trying our best to move forward and do what is best for our children. They are and will always be our number ONE priority!
My Project
I truly believe this statement Bill Gates has shared, "Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important." With that said, please know that I am a teacher who loves using technology in my reading intervention classroom. However, for obvious reasons, purchasing technology is not always in the budget of school systems. Needless to say, the purchase of a new laptop and mouse prove beneficial to us. With this new computer, my students could engage in richer technology with ELA based lessons. It would also help with RTI (Response to Intervention), Intervention, as well as ELA subjects. The Internet offers so many free activities for our students. I know having this requested new computer and mouse would help them continue to engage in meaningful lessons to help them reach their potential in my classroom. My goal with my students always lies with closing the gap with students who struggle to read.
With a technology goal on the horizon and hope of new equipment, I plan to continue moving forward for my students to have a productive 21st century reading environment.
