Everybody feels better when they have their personal space! Wiggles and squiggles are a natural part of first grade, so it goes without saying that a spot (or in this case a dot) can go a long way in seeing to it that each child will have their necessary space during group lessons and activities.
My first graders are part of a rural charter school in Northern Colorado.
Everyday we gather together many times to share in various activities in our gathering space: morning meeting, mini phonic & writing lessons, stories, and read to self time. But sometimes it is hard to remember that we need to maintain our personal space, especially when we are really excited about the conversations or stories taking place!
My Project
This rug will allow each student to have his or her very own spot at our gathering space, with enough room for them to sit comfortably together and better engage in the activity at hand. The dots serve as a wonderful visual aide as to what personal space looks like for these young learners.
With your donation our gathering space will becoming an even more welcoming environment.
The students will be able to focus on their learning and engage in group discussions from their very own comfortable spot!
