Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember how fun it was to play games with all of your friends in elementary school? What if you got to do that everyday WHILE you were learning? That's what I want for my students!
My students are the most lively bunch of learners the state of Oklahoma has ever seen!
They are sweet and kind and full of all kinds of first grade energy! They come from homes where poverty is everywhere and reading is minimal, but they don't let that stop them from coming to school every day ready to learn everything they can about the world around them. Our school is in the middle of one of the most poverty-stricken areas in the state. In order for my students to graduate from their situations, they need to build the foundation of reading and mathematics that will help them to succeed in their futures.
My Project
These literacy and math centers will be used daily to allow my students to engage in reading and math activities that will help to reinforce and improve the skills that are being taught in the classroom. The most exciting part about these centers is that they will be completely student driven. The students will be the ones engaging in fun learning with each other. Each day, during literacy and math centers, the students will rotate through these activities with 1 to 2 other students. They will get the opportunity to enjoy learning alongside their peers through fun and engaging activities!

They will learn so much about math and reading in a fun way! Learning should be something kids enjoy, and through these learning centers my students will have a blast learning and growing with their friends. All the while they will learn the skills they need to escape the hold that poverty has on their futures.
