My students need class sets of books to use for our weekly reading stories.

My Students

My students crave to read books but the stories that we have for weekly reading are just portions of stories and always leave my students wanting more from their stories.

My students come from a variety of economic backgrounds but all yearn to learn more.

They have a difficult time connecting with stories that are short such as the ones in our reading textbooks. They continue to ask for more from their stories. Our school is a Title 1 school and serves students who come to school with many concerns besides academics on their minds.

My Project

I am asking for a class set of Mountain Dance and The Legend of the Poinsettia. These books will give my students whole text to learn from while incorporating our science and social studies into our reading curriculum. Because of state testing we are always struggling to learn our science and social studies topics but these books will not only give my students the whole texts that they continue to ask for but they will also tie in our science and social studies that so many students are lacking today.

These books will provide my students with the whole text that they so desire while also teaching them important science and social studies standards.

These books will help transform the way that my students look at reading.
