My students need 11 books to enhance their art experience and provide an interdisciplinary lesson with multiple benefits.

My Students

Do you remember reading "Harold and the Purple Crayon"? How it opened up your imagination to infinite possibilities for creativity? That is what I am asking for- books to help open up my students' minds, help them solve problems, and to present them with questions they can learn through answering.

I teach elementary and middle school art in a rural Pre-K-12 school in New York.

My students come from communities which are high need. Despite many hardships these students encounter everyday, they still come to school with positive outlooks and an eagerness to learn that is moving.

My Project

I would like to give my students the opportunity to experience how books can enhance their art lessons. I have always enjoyed pairing art lessons with books for the early-aged students. It is wonderful to see how much books inspire children- they are literally hopping out of their seats and rearing to go when I give them their materials!

Our school library has few books like these to offer my students in the art room- many are falling apart, hand-me-downs, and just not cutting it.

These books will not only engage kids through stories, but they teach important life lessons and inspire through imagery and creativity. This donation would greatly improve the learning of my beginner artists!
