My students need some new indoor recess play items including a variety of building blocks and role play family dolls.

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." - Fred Rogers The items I am hoping for would give my little people an opportunity to learn as they play.
My little people are a very active group.
They enjoy learning and work very hard to meet the goals they have set for themselves (both academic and behavioral). The families in my school are struggling to provide some of the very basic things their children need. All of the children at my school receive a free breakfast and free lunch every day. We are even able to offer these same benefits throughout the summer months. My school works very hard to help each and every family with whatever they may need from clothes to food to school supplies. In return, our families are very invested in the school and in the success of their children.
The school I teach at serves families with very low incomes. Many of my families are living with extended family and are struggling to provide for their child's basic needs. As a result, the children in my class do not have a lot of opportunity to use learning toys like those I am requesting. These "toys" would be an educational way for my students to spend indoor recess time this winter. While my students are excited to come to school to learn each day, they also have a lot of fun getting exercise and playing with friends during recess. When winter rolls around (or rain falls) and they are unable to go out for recess, we have very few activities in our room for the children to use. I would love to have something fun for them to do that helps them gain valuable social skills, fine motor skills, and critical thinking skills. The building sets and doll play sets would make my children love indoor recess just as much as outdoor recess!
I would love to have these materials for my students to use during indoor recess.
I know my students would be engaged in what they are doing while learning important skills that are often overlooked. While student academic success is and always will be incredibly important, learning how to work together, feeling the success of creating something amazing, and just being children are also extremely important for children everywhere.
