Pumping Up Our Positive Behavior System

My students need incentives for good behavior. I would like to reward good behavior at my school with colorful pencils, crayons, colored pencil sets and candy.

My Students

The students at our school have a pre-existing culture of being put down by adults. As the brand new faculty we are trying to bolster their confidence and self worth by rewarding positive behavior. We are seeing so much success but need help providing small rewards for good behavior.

The students who will be addressed by this project are kindergarten through fifth graders who need positive behavior reinforcement.

The community here faces many challenges such as poverty, lack of adult supervision, and lack of safe environments to play. Here at school we try to give the children confidence to make good choices, and support to continue making those good choices. The children at my school spend so much of their time outside of school getting put down, that we as teachers fight an uphill battle to show them their worth and potential. These children are kids who deserve a pat on the back for a good job done.

My Project

I am requesting pencils, crayons, colored pencils and candy to serve as rewards for our school wide positive behavior system. We reward the children by catching them being good. They can turn their "caught being good tickets" in for prizes and treats. As teachers we have seen so much growth in good behavior and positive choice making, but it is getting difficult to maintain an entire school's worth of rewards. Your support in helping give our students positive reinforcement for good choices would be so valuable in their learning good citizenship.

This project helps us maintain our school's positive behavior system.

We reward good behavior and encourage our students to strive to be the best school community members they can be. This project gives children incentives to keep up the good work. There has been so much positive momentum with this system this school year, it would be a shame for that to change for the small reason of not being able to maintain the "spirit store" of rewards. Help us encourage these children to be their best.
