Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a multimedia graphic design class for 5th-8th grade students at a charter middle school in California. The course is a cross-curricular class that integrates with our visual arts program. The proposal focuses on projects for both technology and visual arts class.

As part of our initiative to close the digital divide for our minority youth, as well as promote creative expression at our school, we have incorporated a multimedia computer graphic design class. Keeping up with costs of equipment makes it very difficult to maintain this class. We are missing vital computer equipment to really integrate our visual arts and computer graphics class.

The document scanner will allow students to scan their artwork in bulk. Our lone one document at a time scanner would make it impossible to scan over 90 plus student artwork. Especially when we work on our comic book art project where students use comic software to enhance their ink work they have made in art class. We need to scan all their original art so they can import it into computer graphic software for digital enhancements.

Your help will further support our mission in encouraging our minority youth to explore careers in computers and creative arts. The document scanner can help publish their work on the web to help promote and celebrate their hard work.
