My Students
Can you remember back to your elementary school days when your mind was opened to something new? A new way to add, a new way to figure out an unknown word? My students are working tirelessly and need a way to share their thinking with each other.
The 25 first graders I have had the pleasure of getting to know this first month of school are bursting with ideas and questions each and every day they come to school.
I am constantly amazed as they share their thinking with me about all things academic, such as how they discovered a new way to solve a number problem or how they grouped sounds together to write a new word. They meet the challenges I present to them head-on and are enthusiastic about new discoveries.
My Project
The learning process is as important, if not more, than the results a student produces on paper. Many times my students are working independently or with a small group and producing new ideas. It is essential to share each process or method a student uses to solve a problem with the remaining students. This student-to-student learning can be greatly influential and often times more understandable then a way I can show them. With the projector and document camera I am requesting through this proposal, student work would become easily accessible to every person in the classroom. They would no longer depend on me to hold up a small piece of paper, each first grader squinting to see what was written as the work is explained.
Your gift will make a tremendous impact in our classroom on a daily basis.
We will be better equipped to learn from each other and not depend on a lecture from the teacher in order to learn something new. Please help and know your gift is greatly appreciated! We thank you!
