Projecting Music Into the Classroom

My students need a multimedia projector to allow us project music for the whole class, view world music videos from the computer, and do class presentations.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like being in a classroom that is not equipped with all the materials needed to teach the curriculum effectively? Technology is such a part of our culture, yet in this economic climate there are not funds to equip every classroom with the technology it needs.

My students are hardworking children who come from varying backgrounds of ethnicity and socioeconomic status.

Our school is a Preschool-5th Grade Public School Academy in an urban setting. Our student population comes from primarily working class families. In our state our governor has massively cut school funding, leaving little money to invest in technology and other needs of the classroom.

My Project

Technology has changed how teachers teach and how students interact in the classroom. The Internet has opened up a world of research that did not exist 20 years ago. My classroom is requesting a multimedia projector to allow us to project music onto a screen instead of making wasteful copies (we are a MI Green School). We have recorders that are part of our curriculum and this will allow us to project that music. This projector will also allow us to view various media videos of music from around the world that we now have to view huddle around a small computer screen to view. Our students also do composer and other various music-related presentations and this will allow us to do that is a professional way just like in the business world (and help meet the MI technology standards).

This project will allow us to receive a multimedia projector that is something our classroom would not have otherwise due to diminished funding.

This multimedia projector will allow our students to have a piece of technology that will enhance learning by allowing us to view music as class, project student presentations in a professional way, and view music from around the world.
