My Students

Do you remember what it was like being in a classroom that is not equipped with all the materials needed to teach the curriculum effectively? Technology is such a part of our culture, yet in this economic climate there are not funds to equip every classroom with the technology it needs.

My students are hardworking children who come from varying backgrounds of ethnicity and socioeconomic status.

Our school is a Preschool-5th Grade Public School Academy in an urban setting. Our student population comes from primarily working class families. In our state our governor has massively cut school funding, leaving little money to invest in technology and other needs of the classroom.

My Project

We are requesting a document camera to go along with a recently completed Donors Choose Project where we are receiving a digital projector which will allow us to project music and do classroom presentations in a 21st Century environment. Technology has become such a large part of education and future employment. The document camera I am requesting will allow us to project music and other projects on the board with our digital projector which will allow us to save paper from copying and assist with our becoming a green school.

When working with music in class, it can be difficult having lots of students in a small space with music on the floor.

Projecting the music on the board will save space, paper, and allow us the flexibility to change as the students are ready without wasting paper making copies (and time). It will also save money in these tight economic times from having to make copies.
