Wouldn't you have loved to have felt like you were teaching someone when you were a student? That is exactly what I want for my students. My postcard project will turn students into teachers!
I teach an energetic and enthusiastic group of second graders in a school in Brooklyn.
We love art history, sock monkeys, learning about New York City, writing, reading, playing math games and learning Arabic. My students are creative and inquisitive.
My Project
I would love for my students to continue to participate in a monthly postcard project. Each month, my students send a handmade postcard to a family member or friend telling them about what they are learning in school. They share what they learned while strengthening their writing skills. They get the opportunity to surprise their friends and family with mail! It's a wonderful way to engage family and friends with what we are learning.
We are running low on stamps and currently we have 46 cent stamps. The postal rate is changing and we need some stamps to make up for the 3 cent change. We need more first rate stamps as well as international stamps for students who want to write to relatives overseas.
Your donation will provide my students with the materials that they will need to send postcards once a month based on what they are learning in class.
This project will strengthen their letter writing skills in addition to brightening up their friends' and families' day! This project will turn my students into teachers!
