My students need books about insects, a Ladybug Land, and a bug discovery kit to help them study the life cycle of ladybugs and other insects.

My Students

Inquiring kindergarten minds want to know how an insect egg can change into a beetle. Young scientists to be need books and investigation activities like the Ladybug Land to observe the changes that take place from egg to insect.

My kindergarten students are very interested in discovering why things work and happen.

They like to be involved in activities using their hands. My students attend a small public school in Oklahoma. Many of the students live in the small town with a few living in the rural area just outside of town.

My Project

My students know about how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. They want to know about the life cycle of other insects. The Ladybug Land will allow them to watch ladybug larvae turn into a pupa then a ladybug. The books about insects and life cycles will show them pictures and give information about other insects as well as life cycles of other animals. The insect discovery kit will help students identify insects they see in their environment. Kindergarten students are always interested in watching eggs hatch into chicks and tadpoles changing to frogs. My students will be able to observe and explain the life cycle of ladybugs and beetles. This project and the materials needed will help my students have a better understanding about the world around them.

Supporting this project will bring curiosity about life cycles of insects and animals.

It will help my students understand the world around them. It will give them an opportunity to appreciate their environment by being careful with pupa and caterpillars they see crawling about.
