Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine settling in a new country and not speaking the language. That is the problem that my students face everyday. It is my job to help them embrace their new language and expand their vocabulary.

Our school is located in a low income neighborhood in southern Louisiana.

My second grade class is comprised of 27 ESL (English as a second language) students. The majority of my students are very limited in English. They have a desire to learn the English language, but Science and Social Studies vocabulary can be very difficult.

My Project

I am asking for three sets of vocabulary library cards. Each set provides the students with new vocabulary and colorful photographs. These picture cards will help me connect this new and foreign vocabulary to real life. Students learn best when they are able to make connections to their real lives. These cards would enable me to do so.

By donating to our project you will help English learning students to understand not only a new language, but also Science and Social Studies concepts.
