Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are in need of technological resources to help prepare them for college prep courses and the SAT/ACT tests. Unfortunately our students are not on a regular campus (due to their aggressive behavior) and don't have access to new technology offered in a general campus.

Our school is a title 1 campus in Southern California.

Most of our students reside in group homes and come from low income families. Currently I am working on preparing my students for high school and the SAT/ACT tests. The downside to our campus is that our students do not benefit from multiple classes or periods given in a regular middle school campus. Our school is fairly small and all students remain with one teacher all day. This puts more pressure to have our students succeed with limited sources. My goal is to implement cutting-edge technology through iPads and SAT/ACT preparation.

My Project

Through the iPads donated, students will develop the skills necessary to prepare them for the SAT/ACT tests and upper grade level work. The iPads would provide a forefront cutting-edge technology to our students. Some of my students have various impairments and have difficulty with desktop computers. My students love hands-on activities thus, benefiting from the touch screen of the iPad and using their fine motor skills. Software used in the iPads will include e-books, math tutor and SAT/ACT readiness programs. These programs will serve as a useful tool to get our students ‘up to speed’ for college prep level coursework. The iPads will be used to strengthen academic vocabulary and help increase their verbal scores on the SAT. It's never too early to start preparing for the SAT/ACT, students can begin this fall with a curriculum designed to prepare them for college and testing! My students will ultimately be intrigued to prepare for the SAT/ACT and achieve their best scores.

In my eyes, all of my students will attend college.

Please donate to our school and help us prepare our young students for college. Your donation will ignite their love of learning and spark an interest in preparing them for post-middle school.
