Our Guidance Program Needs an iPad!

My students need an iPad to assist with whole group counseling instruction, as well as individual student lessons.

My Students

"Every child you pass in the hall has a story that needs to be heard. Maybe you are the one meant to hear it."- Bethany Hall I work with several students everyday, preschool through twelfth grade. Some students open up and talk freely, while others are more reserved with their thoughts and feelings.

My students are awesome kids!

They are caring, respectful, motivated learners and they love our school. Our school is in a very rural area. We have a student population of around 200 preschool through twelfth grade. They come from families of varying socioeconomic status. Some may have limited access to technology, while others have no access at all. While our students' success is of the highest importance to us, unfortunately our budget doesn't allow for "extras" in a lot of areas, technology included.

My Project

Students that I work with will be able to use an iPad in a multitude of ways. There are several applications that are available that students can use, which help develop various social, emotional, and behavioral skills. In addition to specific skill lessons that can be taught using applications, students often talk more freely when they are participating in activities that are not directly linked to the subject at hand. It would be wonderful for students to have access to therapeutic digital books, which could be read using an iPad.

Having an iPad would allow for students to be engaged in innovative mental and behavioral health activities.

This device would be a treasured resource that students would work endlessly to have access to. When I think about all the doors that can be opened for our students through access to an iPad, I become super excited. I see the promise in all of our students, and with a little help they are capable of anything.
