I am an AVID teacher at a suburban school in Charlotte, North Carolina. With the recent court order to stop desegregation with busing and the focus on community based schools, my school too has adjusted to this new school assignment plan and our student body has changed to more closely reflect the neighborhood surrounding our school. As an AVID teacher, this has provided me more students from single parent homes, on free/reduced lunch, and with no family history of college or upper education. Many of my students cannot even afford paper or notebooks required by their teachers. I would like to purchase 2" binders for each of my students with dividers and paper to help them with their organization. These binders would be used throughout the school year and will give my students the essential tools they need to be successful. Thank you for considering our cause and supporting the success of our future.
