My Students

Independence and self sufficiency are natural confidence builders. My students need to the freedom of structured independence to help them gain confidence.

My students are children who struggle in school.

As hard as they work, their disabilities make it very difficult to keep up with their peers. This can squash their self confidence. They long to be just like their peers and are eager to take charge of their own learning.

My Project

My students need a rolling cart with drawers on it so that their work and materials can be sorted out for them. When it is time to work, students can go to the cart, open the labeled drawers and begin working on their own work independently. Students in the red group will be able to find their work in the red drawer in the cart, while students assigned to the blue group will find their work in the blue drawer. They will no longer need to wait for the teacher to hand out their differentiated work. Their self confidence will grow, and so will their engagement in class!

This rolling cart with drawers will increase student independence, in turn increasing student confidence.

This increased confidence will extend beyond the classroom. As students feel more like their peers, they will be more willing to engage in relationships with them outside of the classroom. Increased confidence will increase the friendships in my building!
