My Students
Ansel Adams, famous American photographer, said, "You don't take a photograph, you make it."
I am the media specialist of a public elementary school, and the majority of our students come from military families, which leads to a very transient population.
Moving can be traumatic for children as they begin to form their own identities and make friends. Blogs rich in photographs and video are a way for students to stay connected after moving.
My Project
Digital photography is taking the world by storm. It is allowing students to express themselves through multimedia projects, blogging, web design, morning news programs and yearbook entries. Our students should not have to settle for point-and-shoot old technology because of the economic disadvantages that plague our school population. Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology allows sharp hand-held shots for even the most inexperienced photographer. It is my goal to have even the youngest students that pass through my center to know how to take a great photograph for a wide-range of forums, such as the Georgia Student Media Festival, International festivals, blogging, class multimedia projects, school news broadcasts and simply making memories that they can take with them throughout the remainder of their lives.
Children ranging in ages from 5-11 years of age will have the opportunity for self expression because this lens is compact, lightweight and has a wide magnification range that allows even a novice to be successful.
Students will be creating projects, but more importantly they will be learning a skill that could develop into a life passion!
