Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Essays covered with red ink is an instant recipe for fallen faces and demoralized students. Often despite their hard work, my students struggle to improve their writing, often telling me, "I suck at writing!" Help my students harness the power of words that grows within them.

My students attend a college prep charter school in a highly underprivileged community in California.

The dropout rate in their city is over 70%, but despite the challenges in their city, my students work tirelessly to overcome the odds. Many of them are English Language Learners and will be the first in their families to attend college. They learn a rigorous curriculum and dream of changing the expectations of their small community.

My Project

Academic writing is an extremely difficult skill for my students to learn. Combined with my classroom projector, a document camera will enable me to show student work effortlessly in class and to provide immediate feedback to student work. It will also allow me to model writing and class notes to enhance student understanding in class. With the support of a document camera, my students will be able to improve the quality of their work and writing throughout the year.

Your support of this project will decrease the red marks on student essays and improve their learning tremendously.

This small technological wonder will improve student writing and help to prepare them more fully for college. You can help students to express their thoughts, analysis and emotions more powerfully through writing.
