My Students
Do you remember how much fun it is to open your yearbook for the first time? Imagine that your students were able to generate a yearbook from start to finish all on their own. My wish is to allow my students to do this. However, with budget cuts the funds are just not available.
My students are awesome.
My yearbook class is multicultural and is not based on grades, looks, economic status. Our school has very little title one funding and does not often make room to purchase materials for any cause other than core academic classes. I want to help the students make something they can take pride in.
My Project
I have been given a yearbook class this year and I really want to see it take off and really help produce something the students can take immense pride in. I am trying to start this class but have no cameras and 1 computer. I want the students to do all components and only be a resource for them. I am hoping to acquire these cameras and it will allow this class to continue for many years to come. In the public school system now, there is not much extra money for "extra" classes but these are the ones that build some of the most important fundamentals in a teenagers life.
This is something that will give these kids a sense of worth.
It will give my kids a sense of accomplishment and let them know that their work is important. It will help with my mentoring of the kids and helping build self esteem and confidence.
