New 1-3 Class Wants to Grow Healthy Readers - Part 2!
My students need the Waseca reading program, storage drawers, and biome readers to help them learn to become healthy readers in our new 1st through 3rd combined class.
Do you remember what it was like to learn about something that really sparked your interest and not have the resources available to really delve into that subject? I am trying to prevent that by giving my students ample opportunities to explore those subjects that drive their curiosity.
My students come from a huge variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
They attend an urban, public Montessori school in a mixed grades classroom. They are privileged enough to enjoy independence and the joy of inner motivation and drive to learn. I am excited to help my sweet students develop a healthy love for reading.
Next year will be my first year teaching a combined 1st grade through third grade classroom. I need to have materials to reach a wide range of student abilities. The leveled Waseca reading materials are just what we need!
My Project
The Waseca Reading Program is a beautiful combination of Orton Gillingham and Montessori methods. It breaks down reading in an understandable and tangible way that unlocks reading's code for all children.
The children work their way through the various levels which are color coded and numbered in lovely wooden drawers. Children can feel like successful readers as they move step by step through through the program.
We are requesting the Waseca reading program, the storage drawers, biome readers, and cursive templates. It takes many tools to help a healthy reader grow. The Waseca tools will give my students confidence to become strong, confidant, and healthy readers. The biome books will help them gain an understanding of our world and how it works. It will help them learn how to keep our planet healthy and their bodies!
Seeing a child read for the first time is an amazing moment.
From that point on, the child's world is slightly altered. They now have the tools to unlock knowledge in a whole new way. I am so excited to see the difference these language materials will make in our classroom. Thank you for your support for these new healthy young readers!
