This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students face the challenge of not having enough access to using technology in the classroom for supporting their learning. Last year, I was fortunate enough to fundraise and get 11 iPod Touches for my students. However, we now need help to sync, charge, store, and secure our valuable items.

My students, a diversified group of eight and nine year old third graders, live in an economically disadvantaged area.

They attend a southern California Pre-K through eighth grade school with just over 1,000 students from racially diverse backgrounds. It is a working class Title I neighborhood school. This year's group of third graders are very motivated learners who enjoy math and reading. They especially love to use technology in the classroom.

My Project

In order to prolong and safeguard the little technology we do currently have, our treasured eleven iPod Touches, we urgently need a syncing and charging station. We need to keep them in optimum condition considering the heavy use of these devices by a class full of 24 third graders. Up to this point, it has been difficult to charge, sync, and maintain the learning apps on the iPods one at a time. The various math and reading games, along with other educational websites would be much easier for my students to access them-if these devices were 'N Sync!

Your help with providing my classroom with an iPod Syncing Station, would not only help us maintain our valuable inventory of our iPod Touch devices, but would make a difference in the daily lives of my students, enabling them with better access to the technology that I am attempting to bring to my classroom.
