Have you ever felt the rhythm on of a drum as it pulsed through your body? My students have difficulty with sensory processing and benefit from deep pressure, strong rhythm and music. They learn benefit from the use of music, eye contact and the quality of verbalization increase.
My students are ages two and a half through five years of age.
They attend an early childhood special education class. We are fortunate enough to be located in an early childhood center, which allows for opportunities to interact with typically developing students.
All of my students exhibit delays in language development. A large portion of my students also have difficulties with sensory processing and making eye contact.
They love to engage with music. The deeper the rhythm and beat, the better. They are more apt to give eye contact, verbalize longer utterances and participate when we present things through music.
My Project
My students will be able to increase their ability to participate in music and movement activities if we are granted these new materials. It will increase their level of participation and interaction within a group setting. It will also allow my students to interact, in an appropriate manner, with their same age peers.
Every child deserves the opportunity to express themselves in a manner that makes sense to them. Music is the way that makes sense to my students.
Your donations will make a difference in the lives of my students!
They will be interested in interacting, verbalizing and attending in a group situation. These instruments will let them be a part of a group, in appropriate manner, and feel like a typical kid! Who does not deserve an opportunity like that?
