Moot Court Needs Props for Realistic Courtroom Experience!

My students need a podium and gavel set in order to have a more realistic class court room experience during Moot Court.

My Students

How can the citizens of our society protect and preserve the freedoms and liberties granted in the U.S. Constitution? This is accomplished by knowing ones rights. Moot Court allows my students to learn about the U.S. Constitution through playing the role of an attorney or Justice of the SCOTUS.

My students are inner city students that attend a school meant to close the achievement gap.

The school they attend is a selective high school meant for students from minority groups that are high achievers looking for a challenging and rigorous curriculum that will open doors for them to the best colleges and universities.

My Project

Have you ever seen an attorney on television arguing in front of a panel of judges without a podium or a judge without the use of a gavel? Of course not; and neither have my students. Moot Court is an elective course that I developed in order to provide my students with the ability to study the United States Constitution and the rights and freedoms it provides in depth. However, the Moot Court experience is lacking for the students without having the simple props that everyone associates with a courtroom. Have you ever seen a judge without a gavel or attorneys arguing in front of a courtroom without some sort of a podium dividing them from the judges bench? Of course not, this is why I am requesting a gavel set (gavel and the piece of wood to bang it on) and a podium. These two items will allow for a more realistic court room feel and help enrich the Moot Court experience for all of my students.

Moot Court is a great way for young adults to learn about the freedoms and liberties the United States Constitution grants it's citizens.

With your help, my students will be able to have a more realistic court room experience while learning about their rights and freedoms; which will help our future generation preserve the freedoms and liberties written down by the founding fathers over 225 years ago.
