My project needs 600 large white mailing labels, 48 pencil holder inserts for a 3 ring binder, 40 plastic double pocket folders for a 3 ring binder, and 48 three ring binders with clear plastic insert covers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The Grandview Elementary School is a K-3 building, servicing 450+ students from diverse backgrounds. The school is part of The East Ramapo School District located in Rockland County, New York. The district is unique compared to other districts in Rockland County because it provides services to the largest population of special education classes, ESL classes, autistic classes, as well as meeting the needs of the students in the regular education classroom. The district is considered a high needs district, with 90% of our students receiving free or reduced price lunch. Many of the students come to school without the appropriate school supplies because their parents just can't afford the materials. Without the appropriate supplies, it is very difficult for the students to start the year off feeling successful. As a third grade teacher, I feel it is important for the children to own one complete binder to bring to and from school each day. The binders I am requesting will serve as a communication tool between teachers and parents, as well as a vehicle for teaching organizational skills. Those children who enter the classroom in September, without any supplies, will feel motivated and included when they receive a brand new binder. The binder will be prepared with all the materials needed to begin a successful school year like their more advantaged peers.
