Mobile Broadcasting Kit

My Students

My broadcasting students are excited about covering community events in a professional manner. Their passion for journalistic broadcasting is overflowing. The equipment we have available for them leaves much to be desired. Help me offer them an experience that will make a lasting difference.

It's a small town high school.

The community around us prides itself in having that small town feel. Most of the students in my classes have parents and even grandparents that went to this same school years ago. The roots run deep in this community. When there is a parade on Main Street, a soapbox derby, or a choir concert at the train depot, everyone from the community shows up in support. These local events serve as perfect opportunities for the students in my video production and broadcasting classes to have real life experience reporting on local events that matter. They have a passion for broadcasting, a commitment to their local community, and a willingness to put in the hard work to achieve journalistic excellence. Right now, the only thing stopping them is the lack of decent equipment.

My Project

We've got a few decent cameras and tripods. There are a few things that were missing that would help take our mobile broadcasting unit to a more professional level: a mobile teleprompter (which can be created using an iPad and a piece of glass) and a decent overhead microphone. Our community recently put on a 10k run to raise funds for the elementary schools. A team of my students was there to report on the event. While they did an excellent job planning and even shooting great video, the static on the microphone and the lack of a teleprompter left them with a news story that they weren't happy with. My students need a mobile broadcasting setup with a easy to use teleprompter and an overhead microphone system for local sports and event broadcasting.

A handful of my students have the desire to pursue broadcasting careers.

Several others, while they likely won't end up in the broadcasting field, are very proud of the work they are able to produce in my program. It's so exciting to see students who are eager to participate in outside projects and take the time to produce quality work. I would love to help them further their passions and careers by providing the next level of equipment. Will you help me?
