Microscopes For Aspiring Scientists

My students are in need of scientific materials including a digital microscope, mold and hookworm mounts, and three microscope slides.

Our students have been deprived of science education! I teach 7th grade life science to 100 students-- 90% of which have never previously had science education! At a 98% free and reduced-lunch school, in the worst neighborhood in town, these students have never been surrounded by the resources necessary to allow them to discover the world around them through science.

We are currently learning about cells and other microscopic elements of our daily lives. Not only are my students eager to visually explore these concepts in order to confirm that they exist-- they must also understand how they work through technology. It is difficult to learn about biological concepts without the technology that has been used by scientists to uncover and explore them.

Please help give my students this chance! As young scientists, they are extremely invested in discovery and learning! They want to look at cells and microscopic organisms. They are eager to uncover the world that they cannot see- and you can help them do this.

All that is needed is one microscope. Because the digital microscope can transfer images onto a computer screen, images and information are easily accessible to students-- and they will be able to look at and study these images beyond lab time! Empower my young scientists! Knowledge gives them power and understanding. You are making learning possible through technology.
