My students need to boost their voices and their grades by hearing their classmates speak with confidence and by speaking with confidence to their classmates using a portable PA system.

My Students

Do you remember getting to use a microphone for the first time? My students have not yet had that experience: Think of the excitement of allowing everyone in class a chance to hear and speak.

My students are inquisitive and interested in helping one another as they learn.

Most of my students are English language learners. Research has found that the boost and excitement of the amplified voice can provide great strides to students who would ordinarily fade to the background. Putting a microphone into the hands of these students would change their experience of their own voice and the voices of others around them.

My Project

Think of the impact upon students that are able to speak and be heard as they read stories, poetry, and creative writing. Think of the joy of sharing with the excitement of an actual microphone. My students have practiced and done role playing using a “play” microphone. Students that would ordinarily not volunteer to be heard in class suddenly felt confidence when the play microphone was passed to them: When they spoke, they showed confidence that I had not seen before. Public speaking is a wonderful experience for students—An experience that builds assurance and poise. Adding the exciting element of a real microphone would give my students an engaging tool with which to learn and share learning with others.

Your donation would buy a portable PA system that would make a huge difference to my students.

You would make such an impact on my students by of giving them the opportunity to hear and be heard while using a real microphone. Sharing, explaining, quoting, reading, and performing would all be possible with this portable microphone and speaker. The impact you would make would be to give students the joy of amplified speaking and listening. Thank you for making this possible.
