Vinyl albums, 8-track tapes, cassettes, CD, DVD and MP3 players, music downloads and streaming are words which have fused music and technology in one place. As time passes, the union appears to be stronger than ever. With a computer in my classroom, I could unite the two.
Our Pre K-5th grade school is one of the elementary schools in our area.
We have almost 550 students here! I currently work with the Pre K through 3rd grade students with weekly music classes. I also teach tonet lessons to our fourth graders and, in 5th grade, I teach elementary band.
My Project
Music and technology in the world today are without a doubt intertwined. It has been that way since music was produced electronically. However, since the birth of computers and the Internet, the union of the two has definitely solidified and entered unmarked territory. As an elementary band and music teacher, I currently have no computer in my classroom and feel having one could be an asset for my students. With so many musical programs, online sites, and sites to stream music and more, I could utilize those to benefit all of my students.
As a fairly new teacher, I am truly interested in intertwining technology and music lessons for my students. At this time however, with no computer in my classroom, it is not possible. My students need a computer for our music classroom.
As a music teacher in need of a computer, I feel I could simultaneously unite music and technology in a way in which these students have not experienced before.
Your consideration of this project would be deeply appreciated.
