My Students

Knowledge satisfies my students' hunger! I have an energetic, engaging and vibrant class of beautiful first graders with diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds. Every day, my students come to school eager to learn and thrive. They work hard and try their best to make good choices.

Our school has limited funding for materials.

70% of our students are receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Most of my first graders come from immigrant families where English is their second language. They struggle to converse with their friends every day. As their educator, my goal is to find resources that will help my students be confident with their fundamental skills: reading, writing and speaking. My students are curious, intuitive, inventive, and always excited about learning. Our class will celebrate many milestones throughout the year, like learning to read and write, losing a first tooth, and making new friends. Exploring, building, and problem solving are always very exciting for them. While we are playing, we are actually learning, which makes us lifelong learners.

My Project

In my first grade class, we learn in different literacy centers: Phonics, Writing, Reading and Listening. Each center has activities for students to do independent work. With our new center activities, we can practice writing simple sentences, talking with prompts so that they will be comfortable and fluent in their oral language, sequencing the story in correct order of what happened next, building vocabulary and sight words and having fun with "Can Do" reading games. With an increase in our class size, we need a round table for our children to read and do their work. The organizer boxes will help each student keep all their paperwork and projects in one neat place. While they are learning at their centers, I will be reading with my leveled group of students to teach them phonics skills and promote reading fluency. Ultimately, my goal is to keep my students engaged and have fun learning while at their literacy centers.

Your donations will truly make a difference in our children's lives as it will allow them to have more engaging materials to learn at different centers.

They will be able to read and comprehend, write detailed sentences in their stories. It is a very exciting feeling when students know that they can read and write since they are basic fundamental skills that every child should have. Please help our children be better prepared for their future. Thank you for being a part of our journey!
