My Students

You are standing in front of large group of people... for the first time. Your team is counting on you to give a great presentation but you just forgot your lines! Wouldn't it be nice if you could tape yourself several times giving a presentation and then choose the best "take" to show and submit?

My students are creative and inspiring.

They attend a very diverse high school in the heartland of America. Our school is considered a minority majority school and more than half of all students receive free or reduced lunch. Campus is quite large because we have just over 3,000 students in this grade 10 - 12 building.

My Project

I am requesting 7 video cameras along with 7 tripods and camera bags so that I can protect this valuable investment. The cameras will be used during the media literature PBL unit with a focus on rhetoric in the media. After studying how writers use rhetoric, teams of students will write and then act out a commercial or skit utilizing the rhetorical strategies learned.

After completing this project, students will better understand how writers use rhetoric in both the written and conversational form.

Special attention will be paid to rhetoric in the media so students will be able to identify different strategies that advertisers use to get them to make purchases. Students will be better prepared as consumers and be better prepared for college after this unit.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
