Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students do not have the opportunity to measure items at home. They do not have the practical experience to work in fifth grade science. I have ordered a kit that will allow them to measure mass, volume, and length. I also ordered weather instruments, and science cards.

My students are awesome.

They come in excited about learning. We have a high percentage of students on free and reduced lunch. My class is very diverse. We have many nationalities represented in our school. We also have many English as a second language students. Many of my parents speak broken English.

My Project

The balance beam, weather center, science comprehension cards and other new resources will give the students practical experience with measuring tools. The materials will also give the students the opportunity to put into practice the skills they have learned in science. My students will be better prepared to complete there assigned objectives.

I know my students will be excited about learning when they are using these new materials.

Students really look forward to working with these tools. They might even inspire someone to choose a career in science.
