My Students

One of the many joys of being a teacher is bringing a smile to a students face while they are learning. More than just textbooks are needed to do this. The materials I am asking for can help bring a smile (and knowledge) to my students.

I teach at a Title 1 school, which means that we have over 60% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch.

Our school is in a low socioeconomic neighborhood in Louisiana. Many of our students cannot afford the basic school supplies or uniforms.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of classroom dice, playing cards, and resources books. I introduced the dice to my students during Guided Math. Their faces lit up and it is their favorite game to play with. They are always excited to learn a new game using the dice. Students will be able to use the cards and dice for a variety of math skills, such as, place value, probability, basic operations. These items will be an asset to the classroom because they will be able to be use all through the year.

With your donation, I will be able to introduce my students to other activities that will reinforce the learning being done in the math classroom.

My students will be able to take the games they have learned in class and with simple dice or playing cards play (and review) at home. This will help get the whole family involved in learning and create a link between home and school.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
