Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All children love color and my students are no exception. In a year, we go through countless crayons, paint and markers. Your donation would help keep us supplied in markers for the entire year (probably into next year).
I teach art in Texas to 800, low socio-economic students from PreKinder-5th grade, who attend art class for 45 minutes once every six days; that is never enough time.
They are always asking for more! Due to this, I open my art room for 30 minutes before the school day begins and the students come en masse! They use that time to complete projects, research artists or show me artwork that they have completed at home.
My Project
I am requesting 20 packs of markers. With your generous donation, my students will be able to create vibrant projects that focus on the use of the color wheel. They will learn about primary and secondary colors, complementary colors, analogous and monochromatic. They will use the sharpies to add rich colors to their inspirations. They will also be able to use black markers to outline other projects.
Markers are such an important part of an art room and your help in purchasing a year's supply would be appreciated by all 800 of my students.
They will be able to let their creativity run wild without worrying about whether we have the color they are looking for. With this purchase, there will be an ample supply of all colors.
