Manipulatives For Hands On Math

My students need 2 new sets of engaging math manipulatives to use during math time in order to master number concepts.

My Students

Learning should be fun and these math manipulatives will help students to not only have fun while learning but to become engaged with what they are doing and truly master important number concepts that will help them succeed not only in their school career but in life.

Working in a public elementary school as a kindergarten teacher, I have students come into my classroom with varying background experiences.

While some of my students will come to school having done more traveling than I have, others will come into school never having any educational experiences. Despite the huge gap between the knowledge that these kids attain, it is my responsibility to make sure that they leave my classroom on the same playing field.

My Project

I am asking that you help donate 2 sets of counting manipulatives for my students to use. These sets contain counters in the shape of animals, people, food, and transportation. Donating to this project will give students the resources that they need to become engaged in learning new math concepts and have math connect to real life by using objects that are imitations of things around them. These math manipulatives will help my students practice counting using one-to-one correspondence, as well as help students learn to add and subtract.

The Common Core State Standards require students to use hands-on materials in order to learn the math concepts that we must teach.

Donating to this project will let students accomplish this goal, while having fun learning at the same time.
