Making Kindergarten Rock With An IPod!

My students need an iPod to help inspire them for our daily lessons in calendar math, literacy, and mathematics.

My Students

I think Benjamin Franklin's quote says it best, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." This quote goes a long way in a kindergarten classroom because involving the students is the KEY!

I currently have a class of 18 students but it can be as many as 20.

They come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and they all carry an amazing love of life. They absolutely love to learn, but one item that always captures their interest is when I put on some music to get a lesson going. They love to sing or dance along to the beat and they would make anyone smile. These students always have something interesting to share and they are always exceeding my expectations!

My Project

The resource that I am asking for will help my class this year and it will continue to help future classes. The digital music player will allow me to play music anywhere in the classroom, but more importantly it will allow for more flexibility when looking for a song that will help as a motivational device. In kindergarten, it is vital to adapt your teaching to meet the needs of every student. I have noticed over the past 7 years that the music I use in my classroom helps to motivate my students and it helps to ingrain concepts that I am teaching. A digital music player would allow me to access the music I use with my student quickly and more effectively.

I not only want to teach my students the values and skills needed to be successful in school and life, but I want to involve them.
