My Students

It makes "sense" to work...my students need to be active in order to work. A lot of them will sit to do work but can't focus because they need to be moving. In order for them to work, they need to be bouncing, kicking their feet, tapping their pencil, or anything in order to focus!

My students are children with special needs.

Every student in my classroom has some type of disability. They attend public school and are in either a self-contained classroom or a co-taught class. Most of the students in my class need to stand at some point during the lesson, walk around the room, or rock in order to pay attention to get work done. If they had the chance to have foot rollers or chair balls, they would be able to learn and be active at the same time.

My Project

"Focus...focus...pay attention...do your work" These are often words spoken in different classrooms that some of our students go to. When my children are given the chance to fidget while instruction is going on or they are working, they amount of work they do and the information they obtain increases dramatically.

This project would give my students the chance they need to get work done while sitting at their desk or at different stations.

They will be able to focus, and concentrate to best of their ability, through movement during instruction or work time.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
