Makerbot for Makerspace at SOMS Library

My students need a Makerbot 3D printer so they can create amazing things. We want to create a makerspace in our library and the Makerbot will greatly help!

My Students

My students are amazingly creative and already produce book art, Lego masterpieces etc, but we could use a 3D printer to greatly enhance our creativity and what we can do. The library incorporates technology into the curriculum constantly & the 3D printer will make us a true tech hub.

Our students come from a very diverse background.

Our school has students from over 70 countries. We also have a diverse economic background with us being a Title One school and having student who are very wealthy with students who are on public assistance.

My Project

As much as possible the library exposes the students to the latest technology, but we just do not have the funds for a 3D Printer. The creativity and skills of our students would shine if we were able to have one. It would not only be used with the students in the library but our technology classes would be able to use it with their students. This technology would have a great impact on all students at our middle school.

This printer will be used by all students and really help not only with our technology students but also with our STEM initiatives. This printer will also be the cornerstone of our library Makerspace.
