Make an Impact in a BIG Way With a Needed Resource

My students need a Sharp Interactive Aquos Board. They have desperately needed this for a long time to update the abysmal technology we have.

My Students

My students live in our residential facility and have limited access to materials that we do not provide for them. They come from various backgrounds, but nearly all of them share the hope that they can turn their lives around and get back on the right track.

My students are juveniles that live here at our residential facility.

My class is a small group of a little less than twenty at any given time. We help them get caught up in their educational endeavors, as well as mentoring them to become upstanding young men. Many of them show a lot of promise, intelligence, and could have a very bright future if given the chance. It's our job here at the facility to give them every opportunity we can to fulfill that. The one thing we do not have a lot of however, is funding. That is why I implore you to consider our small facility, where small changes can make huge differences. Places like this, and people like you, are what can make major impacts for places like ours. Thank you for your support.

My Project

My students need a Sharp Interactive Aquos Board. They have desperately needed this for a long time to update the abysmal technology we have. The students and I would have the ability to pull up useful educational videos, documentaries, learning applications, and do group or individual learning projects that would be impactful to their learning environment. This project would allow us to interact more as a class, rather than individually or in small groups using a laptop. The students would enjoy the ability to come to the board to interact with projects, videos, or one another utilizing the whiteboard option. This will allow me to instruct the entire classroom at once using varying methods of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles with one device. The students would also have more freedom to express their own creativeness in many subject areas, from geography to art using programs available to this board. This is a major addition that would give us an all-in-one educational platform. This would allow us to catch up to conventional classrooms all over the nation, instead of continuing to fall farther behind.

The nature of our facility requires that my students do not have access to the Internet, except to complete online course work for school.

This project would give me the ability to teach the group in a much more dynamic manner. I have a new laptop (that was graciously funded, thank you!) that we have begun to use in this manner, on a smaller scale with less group interaction. This board is stage 2 of what I hope will become our technology learning platform here at the facility for years to come.
