Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help my students escape into their imaginations with reading through a Nook!

My school is a Title 1, high poverty school.

It is a brand new school, which means we are lacking bilingual supplies. I work with students in English and in Spanish, grades Pre-K through 5th. My students love technology but have little to no technology at home.

My Project

I am requesting Nooks for our classroom and bilingual books for our classroom. Technology is a huge part of today's society and is a fun and interactive way to engage students. Having classroom Nooks will engage my students of all levels and help them fall in love with reading. Students at all levels want to read when they are allowed to read on e-readers. Students will be allowed to read on the Nooks in the classroom. Students will also be allowed to check the Nooks out and take them home to read. The bilingual books will help my students learn to read in both English and in Spanish. Our school is new and lacks literature in Spanish. This Spanish literature is a necessity for those trying to read.

The Nooks would offer my students a variety of ways to practice and build their reading fluency.

It will also expose my students to new technology and help prepare them for their future.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
