Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way"! My students have trouble communicating and without the proper materials, teaching them well has been harder than it should be.

I am a Speech Pathologist who works with children ranging in severity and disorders.

I have children with mild articulation delays(sound errors) to children with Autism. My students are sweet, friendly and eager to learn! The problem is they do not have all have the tools to express themselves in order to make friends, make their wants and needs known or to tell about their favorite movie or toy. With the proper tools and training, these students could be our next Bill Gates, Tom Cruise, or Hillary Clinton.

My Project

The materials I have requested are language starter boxes. They provide different materials in order to facilitate language by answering questions, initiating conversations and holding conversations over several turns. The materials include puppets of those children who do not know how to speak with a peer for role playing, materials like open-ended question cards the children can ask one another or answer themselves and put it into the correct box like a game. These materials will give my children the start to a long road of talking and learning!

No child should not have the opportunity or means to play with their peers, tell their parents what their day was like, or tell their teacher that they are not feeling well.

These materials will help unlock the language the children I work with have inside, but just do not know how to use. These materials will give a voice to them!
