My Students

Learning to read is an exciting time for kindergarten students. Please help us get reading enrichment activities to keep our brains buzzing.

My students come from a Title 1 school.

In our kindergarten classroom, we celebrate four different nationalities, three different languages, special education students, and gifted and talented students. My room is very diverse, to say the least. My students also come from a wide range of home environments. The majority of my students are from low income households, a few have stable lives, and one is homeless. Each day is different from the day before, but each day is incredibly inspiring with my class of learners.

My Project

I am requesting reading enrichment activities to help make us better readers. My students have grown so much this year as readers through my guided reading groups and whole group lessons, but they need activities to do on their own during centers. I am requesting hands on rhyming activities and word family games so that children can build their reading skills independently, but in an engaging way.

This project is important because reading is important.

I am a first year kindergarten teacher and really need to acquire more materials so that every minute is spent learning and not wasted. The supplies I am requesting will aid in their development of rhyming words and word family words. Both of these emergent reading skills need to be practiced often to help students become stronger and more confident readers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
